India plans Iraq aid
New Delhi, India, Jun. 13 (UPI) -- India was planning Sunday to put together a division of troops to help with the "rehabilitation and reconstruction" of Iraq.
Half of the planned division will be women; including doctors, gynecologists, obstetricians, and nurses; to help with women's and children's issues in the war zone, the Indian Express reported.
"The idea is to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqis, to tell them that India is with them in their hour of need," officials planning the operation said.
They said Indian paramilitary soldiers who will not perform any other function in Iraq but protect the medical brigade.
